Democrats Flip Two Republican House Seats in North Carolina

Democratic candidates Jamie Ager and LaKesha Womack flipped two Republican-held U.S. House seats in North Carolina during the November 4, 2026, elections. Ager, a local business owner specializing in pasture-raised meats, won the 11th District with 57.1% of the vote. He defeated Republican state legislator Jennifer Balkcom in a western North Carolina district known for its strong Republican voting history.

The 11th District seat became open after incumbent Representative Chuck Edwards suspended his reelection campaign in August. Edwards withdrew following a recommendation from the United States House Committee on Ethics for formal censure due to inappropriate conduct with female staffers.

In the 14th District, LaKesha Womack defeated incumbent Republican Tim Moore, a former North Carolina House speaker, with 51.1% of the vote. These victories contribute to a broader Democratic effort to secure a net gain of three seats to seize control of the U.S. House from a slim Republican majority.

Other North Carolina contests saw Democratic Representatives Alma Adams and Don Davis win reelection. Republicans Pat Harrigan, Mark Harris, and Richard Hudson also successfully defended their seats.
