Yemen Coast Clashes Leave Over 1,500 Fighters Dead

Clashes between Yemeni government forces and the Houthi group along the western coast of Yemen resulted in more than 1,500 fighter deaths between August 9 and September 10. The National Resistance reported over 500 of its own dead and 1,500 wounded, while claiming more than 1,000 Houthi fighters were killed during the period.

The fighting began with Houthi missile, drone, and explosive-boat attacks across several fronts, including Hays, al-Kadha, Maqbanah, and al-Barh. The National Resistance alleged that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran and its regional allies provided direct support for the Houthi offensive. Support for the pro-government side was provided by Saudi Arabia, the Giants Brigades, and Nation’s Shield forces.

To avoid encirclement, the National Resistance repositioned its troops along new defensive lines. Despite the losses, the group stated that "the loss of one battle did not mean the end of the confrontation" and maintains it will continue the fight.
