Pakistan Issues Travel Advisory for Pilgrims to Iran and Iraq
The Pakistan Ministry of Religious Affairs warned pilgrims traveling to Iran and Iraq of potential flight disruptions and urged them to carry emergency funds.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony issued a travel advisory on October 22, 2026, warning Pakistani pilgrims of significant travel risks when visiting Iran and Iraq. The ministry highlighted the possibility of flight disruptions, unexpected cancellations, and a lack of adequate backup arrangements, specifically for travel between Tehran, Mashhad, and Najaf.
To prevent travelers from becoming stranded, the ministry directed pilgrims and registered Ziarat Group Organizers to verify all flight schedules before departure and avoid unconfirmed Iranian flights. The advisory recommends that travelers carry additional emergency funds to cover the costs of temporary hotel accommodations or alternative air and land transportation.
Ziarat Group Organizers are mandated to communicate these risks to all pilgrims under their supervision. The government agency emphasized the necessity of contingency planning to ensure the safety of those traveling to these religious destinations.
