Ifeanyi Odii Rejects Pressure to Withdraw from Ebonyi Race
PDP candidate Ifeanyi Odii dismissed rumors that he will step down for Governor Francis Nwifuru in the upcoming February 2027 Ebonyi State governorship election.
Governorship candidate Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii dismissed rumors that he will withdraw from the February 6, 2027, election in Ebonyi State. Speaking in his hometown of Isu, Odii characterized suggestions that he should step down for Governor Francis Nwifuru as political manoeuvring, specifically referencing statements made by Minister of Works David Umahi.
Odii asserted that he holds a mandate from the People’s Democratic Party through consensus and intends to remain in the race. He stated that his candidacy is necessary to address poverty, hunger, and governance issues within the state.
His campaign platform focuses on economic development and healthcare reform. Odii pledged to transform Ebonyi State University into a center of excellence and expand medical education to reduce the migration of Nigerian medical professionals abroad. He is currently conducting door-to-door campaigns and utilizing a social media following of nearly three million people to reach voters.
