Operation Hadin Kai Repels Coordinated ISWAP Attacks in Borno
Nigerian troops repelled coordinated ISWAP attacks on a military base in Logomani and foiled multiple infiltration attempts into the Maiduguri metropolis.
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai repelled a series of coordinated attacks by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists across Borno State between July 8 and July 10, 2026. In Logomani, Ngala Local Government Area, insurgents breached the defensive perimeter of a Forward Operating Base and entered the local community. The attackers burned a police outpost, a primary healthcare center, and two school classrooms before military forces launched a counter-offensive to expel them. One soldier was killed and two gun trucks were damaged during the engagement.
On July 10, the military foiled further infiltration attempts into the Maiduguri metropolis between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Insurgents attempted to enter via Muna Garage, Shuwari Village, and the Ajilari Cross axis but were forced into a retreat. Separate attacks were thwarted at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in the Buratai Local Government Area, where a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle triggered an improvised explosive device without causing troop casualties.
Concurrent operations led to the surrender of six ISWAP fighters and their families in Gwoza and the rescue of two kidnap victims in Askira/Uba on July 7. Military forces also arrested suspected logistics suppliers in Mobbar and a criminal in Adamawa State. Mala Tijjani Ngala, Executive Chairman of Ngala Local Government Council, visited Logomani to assess damage for future reconstruction by the Borno State Government.
