US Vetoes Israeli Offensive as Hamas Rebuilds Gaza Military
The United States is blocking an Israeli military offensive in Gaza despite IDF reports that Hamas is recruiting fighters and manufacturing weapons.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are preparing for a renewed offensive in the Gaza Strip after intelligence reports indicated that Hamas is reorganizing for future conflict. Assessments submitted to Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir reveal that Hamas is manufacturing hundreds of explosive devices and anti-tank missiles monthly, recruiting operatives aged 18 to 22, retraining Nukhba forces, and rehabilitating underground tunnel infrastructure. The IDF is currently maintaining operations in the Gaza buffer zone, known as the Yellow Line, to prevent the re-establishment of terrorist infrastructure near Israeli borders.
The Federal government of the United States has exercised a veto against renewed broad military action, stating there is currently no international legitimacy for another campaign. The U.S. is instead promoting President Donald Trump's Board of Peace initiative, with members scheduled to meet in Cyprus to discuss governance and reconstruction.
Diplomatic efforts remain stalled over core demands. While a Hamas delegation met with Russian officials in Moscow on June 10 to discuss disarmament, Hamas continues to insist on a full Israeli withdrawal from the enclave. Conversely, Israel demands that Hamas disarm before providing significant relief. The IDF maintains that Hamas remains strong on the ground and is unwilling to relinquish control of the territory.
