Pakistan and Kashmiri Groups Observe Black Day Against India
The Government of Pakistan and Kashmiri organizations observed Black Day on October 27 to protest India's 1947 annexation of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Government of Pakistan and Kashmiri organizations observed Black Day on October 27, 2026, to commemorate the arrival of Indian troops in Srinagar on the same date in 1947. The day marks what Pakistan and Kashmiri groups describe as the illegal annexation of Jammu and Kashmir in violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.
In Pakistan, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar led a solidarity walk in Islamabad, while Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani headed protest rallies in Muzaffarabad. Simultaneously, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference called for a shutdown in Indian-administered territory and urged the international community to intervene in the dispute. Participants condemned both the 1947 military intervention and the 2019 revocation of the region's special status.
Diplomatic efforts extended to Baku, Azerbaijan, where the Embassy of Pakistan hosted a ceremony featuring a photo exhibition on human rights. Chargé d'Affaires Sara Ijaz read messages from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, criticizing India for arbitrary arrests and extrajudicial killings in the region. Ijaz reaffirmed Pakistan's support for the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination and praised Azerbaijan for its consistent support of Pakistan's position.
