Huntington Bank to Close 13 Michigan Branch Locations
Huntington Bank is closing 13 branches across Michigan to balance its physical and digital banking networks while maintaining the state's largest branch footprint.
Huntington Bank is closing 13 branch locations across Michigan as part of a strategic review to balance its physical presence with ATMs and digital banking. The closures represent approximately 5% of the bank's physical footprint in the state. Most locations, including several in Metro Detroit and sites in Macomb and Oakland counties—such as Clinton Township, Mount Clemens, Eastpointe, Lake Orion, and Royal Oak—are scheduled to shut down on August 28.
Two locations will remain operational longer: the Troy West branch is scheduled to close in early November, and the Traverse City branch will close in mid-November. The bank stated that every consolidating branch has another Huntington branch within approximately 10 minutes. This broader network update also includes renovating existing locations and opening new branches.
Following these closures, the Columbus, Ohio-based bank will maintain 286 branches statewide, remaining the largest branch network in Michigan. Regarding staffing, the company has not specified if layoffs will occur but stated it will make efforts to place impacted colleagues in other roles within the organization.
