Groq Seeks Series B Funding at $8 Billion Valuation

Groq is seeking a new funding round at an $8 billion valuation to expand its AI inference data center operations.

AI infrastructure company Groq is seeking a Series B funding round at a proposed $8 billion valuation, more than doubling its $3.15 billion valuation from August. Executive Chairman Alex Davis is leading the effort, positioning the company as a stable alternative to rival neocloud operators like CoreWeave and Nebius by avoiding heavy debt financing.

The company previously developed AI chips but pivoted to operating data centers for AI inference following a $20 billion licensing agreement with Nvidia last year. This partnership also led to the recruitment of Groq founder Jonathan Ross by the chipmaker. Groq now focuses on providing inference computing services specifically for the cybersecurity sector.

Davis projects that revenue will increase eightfold next year, with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization reaching $2 billion by 2028.
