Samsung Plans Major Galaxy S27 Ultra Redesign

Samsung Electronics is reportedly redesigning the Galaxy S27 Ultra with a horizontal camera island, Qi2 wireless charging, and two different size options.

Samsung Electronics is planning a significant redesign for the Galaxy S27 Ultra, according to leaked CAD renders and reports. The device, expected to launch in early 2027, may abandon its traditional vertical camera layout for a horizontal camera island similar to the Apple iPhone 17 Pro. This new module reportedly features two large camera rings and an elongated section for sensors and the LED flash.

The design shift may enable the use of larger camera sensors but could result in the removal of the 10MP 3x telephoto lens. Renders also indicate the addition of a magnetic ring to support native Qi2 wireless charging. In a departure from previous flagship strategies, the company may offer the S27 Ultra in two different sizes, including a more compact version.

Expected technical specifications include a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 5,700mAh battery. The device is anticipated to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.
