U.S. Federal Government Reschedules Marijuana to Acetaminophen Category

The Federal government of the United States rescheduled marijuana, moving the substance from a category similar to heroin to a classification shared with acetaminophen. This regulatory shift is intended to simplify medical research and increase patient access to cannabis.

Canopy Growth Corporation expects limited impact from this change due to its operational structure. The company maintains its primary business in Canada and Europe, avoiding direct participation in the U.S. cannabis market to remain compliant with federal laws. While Canopy Growth invests in Canopy USA, LLC, it does not control the entity, and Canopy USA focuses predominantly on the recreational market rather than the medical applications targeted by the rescheduling.

To strengthen its medical marijuana presence independently of U.S. developments, Canopy Growth recently acquired MTL Cannabis Corp. in Canada.
