Australia Issues Travel Warning for Riyadh Airport After Houthi Attacks
The Australian government advised citizens against traveling to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh following Houthi attacks across Saudi Arabia.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade issued a travel warning advising Australian citizens not to travel to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The move follows a series of Houthi attacks across Saudi Arabia, prompting the agency to update its Smartraveller service and urge citizens to reconsider all travel to the country.
Officials warned that regional military conflict could result in widespread movement restrictions, flight cancellations, and the closure of airspace. For individuals who must travel to the Riyadh airport, the government recommends re-confirming flights and minimizing time spent on-site.
Australia continues to maintain do not travel warnings for the Najran, Jazan, and Asir provinces in southern Saudi Arabia, as well as any regions within 30 kilometers of the Yemen border.
