OpenAI Projects 70 Billion Revenue by 2026
OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar reports massive quarterly growth and projects 70 billion dollars in revenue by 2026 while urging faster AI adoption in Europe.
OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar reported a blockbuster third quarter during the international AI Summit in Dublin, citing over 70% quarter-over-quarter growth and a doubling of the company's enterprise business. Friar projected that OpenAI revenue will reach 70 billion dollars by the end of 2026.
Addressing global adoption, Friar noted that European firms are trailing behind other markets, with only 10% of the platform's top firms based in European jurisdictions. She defended the return on investment for generative AI by highlighting breakthroughs in coding at Cisco and the diagnosis of 40 previously unresolved children's diseases at Boston Children's Hospital.
On the subject of safety and alignment, Friar stated that OpenAI is increasing compute investment to ensure model safety. She revealed that the release of the next generation model was delayed to allow for further safety iterations. Regarding AI liability, Friar suggested that responsibility should be split between the supply chain, the manufacturer, and the user, similar to the automotive industry.
