US Gasoline and Diesel Prices Drop Across Most States
Gasoline and diesel prices decreased nationwide as refinery maintenance ended and seasonal demand faded, though high crude oil costs threaten future relief.
Average gasoline and diesel prices decreased across most of the United States during the first week of November 2026. The national average for regular gasoline fell 17.1 cents to $4.12 per gallon, while diesel prices dropped 5.9 cents to $6.28 per gallon.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, attributed the decline to the conclusion of refinery maintenance and fading seasonal demand as cooler weather arrived. Regional drops were significant, with Columbus, Ohio, seeing a 32.8 cent decrease to $4.12, and Michigan prices falling approximately 28 cents to $4.55. In Georgia, the average fell to $3.58, remaining 59 cents below the national average, while Minnesota prices averaged $4.07.
Data from the Energy Information Administration showed that domestic gasoline supply increased to 209.2 million barrels despite a 3.1 million barrel decrease in crude oil inventories. While oil prices fell nearly $2 during Sunday trading, analysts warn that relief may be short-lived. AAA – The Auto Club Group noted that crude oil prices remaining above $100 per barrel, combined with geopolitical tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and strikes on Russian refineries, could trigger renewed volatility.
