Illustrator Stanley Chow Seeks Legal Action Against Conservative Party
Illustrator Stanley Chow is seeking legal advice after the Conservative Party and Reform UK used his artwork without permission for political campaigns.
Illustrator Stanley Chow is seeking legal advice after discovering that the Conservative Party used his artwork without permission to mock Andy Burnham. During a party conference, Conservative workers distributed water bottles featuring a cartoon by Chow accompanied by the slogan “bottler Burnham.” Chow first noticed the unauthorized use while watching Sky News and has requested an explanation from the party, which has not yet responded.
Chow also alleges that Reform UK used his artwork in a social media attack advertisement to promote an anti-immigration message he does not endorse. He has stated that he is taking legal advice and may pursue formal legal action against the parties involved.
Colin Bell, a partner at the law firm Brabners, characterized the incidents as a clear case of copyright infringement. Bell stated that Chow is entitled to a public apology, an injunction, and financial compensation for the unauthorized use of his work.
