Russia Detains Two Suspected Ukrainian Agents Plotting Moscow Attacks
The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation arrested two men for allegedly plotting drone attacks on Moscow's power and missile defense infrastructure.
The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation detained two men on Monday for allegedly plotting drone attacks against an electric power facility and a key component of Moscow's missile defense system. The agency identified the suspects as individuals from the Transcaucasus region, born in 1991 and 1998, who were acting as agents for the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, one suspect was recruited by a Ukrainian officer for a monetary reward and subsequently enlisted an acquaintance to help. The pair retrieved FPV drones and improvised explosive device components from caches located in the Smolensk and Kaluga regions before transporting the equipment to the Moscow region.
The plan involved launching the drones locally while controlling them remotely from Ukrainian territory. The Security Service of Ukraine and the Ukrainian government have not issued immediate comments regarding the arrests.
