Kikkoman Opens $560 Million Production Plant in Wisconsin

Kikkoman Foods, Inc. officially opened a 240,000 square-foot production facility in Jefferson, Wisconsin, on September 18, 2026. The state-of-the-art brewing plant represents a $560 million investment over 10 years and serves as the company's ninth soy sauce production base outside Japan. The facility began brewing in May 2026 and is scheduled to begin shipping products in October, with a production target of 4,000 kiloliters of soy sauce by March 2027.

The plant will produce soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, and other seasonings for retail and foodservice channels across North America. To support the project, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation committed up to $15.5 million in performance-based tax credits. The expansion adds more than 80 high-paying jobs to southeastern Wisconsin and includes digital manufacturing tools aimed at achieving a 100% recycling rate by 2030.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Honorary CEO Yuzaburo Mogi announced a $250,000 donation to the Jefferson County Parks & Rec department. Kikkoman currently holds approximately 60% of the U.S. household soy sauce market. The company has already approved a Phase Two expansion expected to begin construction this fall and is considering adding ponzu sauce production at the site in the future.
