Stephen Moore Urges Tripling US Data Center Capacity

Stephen Moore visited a CloudHQ data center in Virginia and called for the United States to triple its data center count over the next decade.

Stephen Moore, a former senior economic adviser to Donald Trump and cofounder of Unleash Prosperity, toured a CloudHQ data center in Loudoun County, Virginia, to advocate for the rapid expansion of digital infrastructure. Moore characterized these facilities as industrial and engineering marvels that function as the central nervous system for national defense, healthcare, and commerce.

During his visit to the facility near Dulles International Airport, Moore argued that the United States must triple its number of data centers over the next ten years to maintain technological leadership and avoid economic collapse. He stated that such infrastructure is essential for the continued operation of GPS, the internet, and the broader digital economy.

Moore highlighted the local economic impact of the CloudHQ facility, noting it provides over 1,000 jobs and contributes to funding for local hospitals, schools, and parks. He suggested that the facility's model of paying high energy costs to lower rates for neighboring residents and businesses should become a standard practice, particularly as public opposition to data centers grows due to noise and resource consumption.
