Apple CEO John Ternus Overhauls Company to Accelerate AI Development

Apple CEO John Ternus is implementing a broad internal overhaul to transform the company into a leaner, engineering-focused organization. Having succeeded Tim Cook earlier this fall, Ternus is moving to accelerate product release cycles, weighing a shift away from traditional spring and fall launches in favor of more frequent and experimental releases.

To reduce organizational bloat and narrow the gap between engineers and executives, Ternus is eliminating middle-management roles. Recent cost-cutting measures include the dismissal of several directors and engineering program managers within the hardware engineering division. Additional cuts have targeted teams working on Siri, AI-related software engineering, and the Vision Pro headset.

Beyond structural changes, Ternus is collaborating with CFO Kevan Parekh and executive Eddy Cue to identify new revenue streams and increase monetization of the services division amid decelerating growth. The company is also exploring the use of AI to automate internal employee tasks and speed up the development of new hardware, such as the recently released $1,999 Duo foldable iPhone.
