MP Anup Sanjay Dhotre Calls for Social Media Accountability

Member of Parliament Anup Sanjay Dhotre urged social media platforms to exercise greater responsibility during the 3rd India International FinTech Festival 2026.

Member of Parliament Anup Sanjay Dhotre called for greater responsibility from social media platforms during the 3rd India International FinTech Festival 2026 on August 6. Speaking in New Delhi, Dhotre argued that freedom of speech and expression should have limitations to prevent exploitation and personal losses.

These comments followed a dispute in which Meta apologized after the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and IT demanded accountability for the removal of a post related to the Indian Prime Minister. Dhotre, a member of that committee, used the event to emphasize that such accountability must extend across all social media platforms.

Beyond content moderation, Dhotre advocated for technology-led job creation and increased security against financial scams and cyber fraud. He linked these security enhancements to the broader national goal of achieving Viksit Bharat @2047.
