Oman and Uzbekistan Expand Trade and Investment Partnership
Oman and Uzbekistan are accelerating a preferential trade agreement and developing joint industrial projects to increase economic connectivity and market access.
The Government of Oman and the government of Uzbekistan are working to expand their economic partnership through increased trade, investment, and industrial projects. During a meeting between Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, Oman's Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, the two nations focused on accelerating a preferential trade agreement and updating mutual investment protection rules.
Key priorities for the partnership include diversifying traded products, improving customs procedures, and developing joint manufacturing projects. The two countries are exploring ways to leverage Omani ports to enhance shipping routes and utilizing the direct Muscat-Tashkent air link to facilitate easier market access.
To increase private sector engagement, the ministers discussed establishing a business council and organizing a business forum. These initiatives are intended to precede the sixth session of the Omani-Uzbek Joint Intergovernmental Committee, which will be held in Muscat.
