Audi Splits Chinese Joint Ventures Into Dual-Brand Strategy

Audi is dividing its Chinese operations between SAIC Audi and FAW Audi to accelerate electrification and intelligent mobility development.

Audi announced a dual-brand strategy for its Chinese joint ventures to accelerate the development of electrification and intelligent mobility. The restructuring splits the company's operational focus between its two primary partnerships in the region to enable faster decision-making and more targeted product development.

Under the new structure, SAIC Audi will specialize in the development, production, and sale of vehicles under the four-letter, all-caps AUDI brand. While transitioning to this new identity, SAIC Audi will continue to sell vehicles featuring the traditional four-ring logo until the end of 2027.

FAW Audi will maintain its focus on the traditional four-ring logo. This venture will lead the development of next-generation intelligent combustion engine vehicles. Audi stated the separation is intended to improve customer experiences and streamline the production of diverse powertrain technologies.
