Gary Gensler Predicts AI Investment Slowdown Within 30 Months

Gary Gensler warns that the artificial intelligence investment boom will slow or reverse within 18 to 30 months due to overbuilt infrastructure.

Gary Gensler, a former chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission and current professor at MIT's Sloan School of Management, warned that the current boom in artificial intelligence investment will not continue indefinitely. Speaking with Bloomberg Surveillance, Gensler predicted a market slowdown or reversal within the next 18 to 30 months.

Gensler suggested that the United States may have overbuilt its AI infrastructure. He noted that the severity of the eventual market correction could be determined by mounting debt levels. Additionally, he discussed how monetary policy and interest rates continue to influence overall financial stability.
