Azerbaijan Parliament Ratifies Energy Deal With Gran Tierra Energy
Azerbaijan's parliament ratified a production sharing agreement with Gran Tierra Energy Inc. for onshore exploration in the Guba-Khazaryani region.
The Milli Majlis, the parliament of Azerbaijan, ratified an exploration, development, and production sharing agreement with Gran Tierra Energy Inc. for the onshore Guba-Khazaryani region. The deal, originally signed on February 18, 2026, with the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan, received formal approval during the first plenary session of the autumn term.
Alongside the ratification, Gran Tierra Energy completed an airborne digital full tensor gradiometry survey covering 4,815 square kilometers. The company plans to integrate this new data with existing seismic and exploratory well records to identify future drilling locations and seismic acquisition areas.
Gary Guidry, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gran Tierra Energy, thanked the Azerbaijani government, the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Milli Majlis for their commitment to passing the bill.
