Apple Introduces iOS 27 With Advanced Siri AI

Apple released the iOS 27 beta, introducing a major software update centered on an overhauled Siri AI and expanded Apple Intelligence features. The updated virtual assistant uses generative audio models to mimic natural human speech and includes on-screen awareness, real-time camera integration for object analysis, and the ability to perform multi-step reasoning for complex tasks such as financial planning.

The update introduces significant interface changes for users who enable Siri AI, moving the Notification Center to the top left corner so that swiping down from the top center activates the assistant. For users of the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air, the update includes Expressive Voices, which allows for the customization of vocal emotion and pace, though these sliders are marked as coming soon in Beta 2.

While iOS 27 supports devices as old as the iPhone 11, primary AI enhancements—including advanced Photos editing, improved Mail search, and natural language input for Calendar and Reminders—require hardware newer than the iPhone 15. Siri AI remains unavailable in the European Union. A public release is expected this fall.
