GSA Awards $1.1 Million for Eisenhower Building Renovations

The General Services Administration awarded contracts totaling more than $1.1 million for various projects in the basement of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. These expenditures include a $253,000 contract for lighting work issued on July 28 and an $8,800 contract for security escort services issued on August 18.

On August 18, the agency also awarded an $878,000 contract to Charles Mann Enterprises for an unspecified basement studio project. These projects include renovations to the Harry S. Truman Bowling Alley. While previous restorations of the alley under Donald Trump were privately funded, the current work utilizes government contracts.

The bowling alley has a history of political volatility, including a 2014 proposal during the Obama administration that was canceled following Republican backlash. In a separate development, the Supreme Court of the United States recently removed legal obstacles to allow for the construction of a ballroom in the White House East Wing.
