Spotify Expands Free Managed Accounts for Children Globally

Spotify removes the cost barrier for child managed accounts, making them available to parents on all subscription tiers in select global markets.

The music streaming service Spotify expanded its Managed Accounts for children under 13 on July 15, 2026, removing previous restrictions that limited the feature to paid Premium Family subscriptions. These accounts are now available to parents across all subscription tiers in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Australia, Germany, and the Netherlands, with planned rollouts for Canada, New Zealand, and several European and South American nations.

Managed Accounts offer a restricted music-only experience that excludes audiobooks, podcasts, and video content. To ensure user safety, the service disables messaging, keeps profiles unsearchable, and replaces user photos with avatars. While explicit content is blocked by default, parents can manage specific song or artist filters through a dedicated dashboard.

Children retain access to personalized features including Daylists, Discover Weekly, and the annual Spotify Wrapped summary. To maintain the integrity of the parent's own music recommendations, the company introduced a PIN lock feature for primary accounts used on shared devices.
