SpiceJet Leases 20 Aircraft to Boost Winter Capacity

SpiceJet finalized lease agreements to add 20 aircraft to its fleet between mid-October and mid-November to prepare for the winter and holiday travel rush. The expansion consists of 15 Boeing and five Airbus aircraft, including high-capacity A321 variants, acquired through wet and damp lease arrangements.

The airline intends to operate approximately 200 daily flights during the winter schedule, increasing frequencies on high-demand domestic and international routes beginning with the Durga Puja period. This move aims to stabilize the market and lower airfares by increasing seat availability amid geopolitical tensions.

These additional aircraft are expected to support operations through the upcoming winter and subsequent peak summer seasons. The expansion is part of a broader effort by the carrier to restore its operational fleet following previous financial and operational challenges.
