AIADMK Members Walk Out of Tamil Nadu Assembly
AIADMK legislators staged a walkout from the Tamil Nadu Assembly to protest government inaction regarding the death of a fisherman in Saudi Arabia.
Members of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam staged a walkout from the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Wednesday after Speaker JCD Prabhakar postponed a party-raised issue until Thursday. The disruption occurred while Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay was making announcements concerning health, milk procurement prices, and official vehicles for legislators.
Following the walkout, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami accused the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government of inaction regarding a tragedy in Saudi Arabia. In that incident, Iranian pirates reportedly shot and killed a fisherman from Mayiladuthurai and injured three others.
Palaniswami stated that the opposition had raised the matter for five consecutive days without receiving a concrete response. He demanded that the state government repatriate the deceased fisherman's body, provide medical care for the injured survivors, and offer financial aid to the affected families.
