Baloch Liberation Army Claims 33 Security Personnel Deaths

The Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for 36 operations across Balochistan over a one-week period, resulting in the deaths of 33 Pakistani security personnel. The surge in violence included ambushes on military convoys, remote-controlled improvised explosive device blasts, and the destruction of bridges on the N-25 national highway and the Kharan–Karachi highway.

On the night of August 22, the group launched an IED attack and ambush on a military convoy in the Khadkocha area of Mastung district. The group claims 13 personnel were killed and over 10 injured, while local sources report two armored vehicles were destroyed. In response, the Balochistan Home Department imposed an indefinite curfew in Khadkocha and surrounding areas starting August 23. A separate attack in Hairabad, Turbat, on August 23 resulted in conflicting reports: the group claimed three deaths, while government officials stated only three were injured.

Beyond direct combat, the group established highway blockades in Basima and Surab to disrupt logistics and declared an economic blockade against projects it describes as the plundering of natural resources. The group warned local contractors and merchants against supplying rations or assistance to the Pakistani military, vowing to continue operations until it achieves the national liberation of Balochistan.
