Agility Robotics Goes Public via $2.5 Billion SPAC Merger

Agility Robotics begins trading on the Nasdaq as the first humanoid-focused company to go public in the United States.

Agility Robotics began trading on the Nasdaq on Thursday under the ticker AGLT, becoming the first humanoid-focused company to go public in the United States. The Oregon-based startup entered the public market through a merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI, a special-purpose acquisition company led by Michael Klein, valuing the company's existing equity at approximately $2.5 billion.

Financial disclosures highlight the high costs of humanoid development, with the company reporting a $138.1 million net loss last year against $1.8 million in revenue. Despite these losses, Agility has deployed its Digit robot across nine facilities, including sites operated by Toyota and Amazon. The company claims to have orders for 1,000 robots from a single customer, totaling over $300 million.

CEO Peggy Johnson stated that the public listing allows the company to set metrics for customer needs in the humanoid market. The move comes as the Federal Communications Commission tightens restrictions on foreign-made robotic devices, a regulatory shift that may provide domestic manufacturers a competitive advantage over Chinese rivals.
