Belden Inc. Launches Ethernet Switch Production in Pune

Belden Inc. has expanded its manufacturing capacity in Pune, India, to produce Ruckus ICX Ethernet switches locally. This move shifts Ruckus Wireless away from its previous reliance on outsourced manufacturing to utilize a 300,000-square-foot facility in Pune.

The operational change follows Belden's $1.8 billion acquisition of Ruckus Wireless and aligns with the Indian government's Make in India initiative. Initial production focuses on the ICX Ethernet switching portfolio, which represents nearly 50 percent of the Ruckus business. The company intends to use the site to provide network equipment and AI-powered automation tools for the domestic market.

Bart Giordano, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Ruckus Networks, confirmed that the first batch of locally manufactured switches is now leaving the assembly line. While current efforts focus on domestic needs, Belden plans to evaluate potential exports and the addition of further enterprise networking products in future phases. These manufacturing efforts complement the company's existing research, development, and customer success operations located in Bengaluru and Chennai.
