Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action film based on the Cyberpunk 2077 universe in collaboration with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and CD Projekt RED.

Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action film set in the universe of the video game Cyberpunk 2077. The project is being produced in collaboration with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and the game's developer, CD Projekt RED.

The announcement triggered a 3% rise in CD Projekt RED shares during early Friday trading. Michal Nowakowski, joint-CEO of CD Projekt RED, stated the company is "excited about Paramount as a future partner who shares our creative ambitions for the Cyberpunk franchise."

The film expansion comes as CD Projekt RED continues work on a sequel to the 2020 title, with 184 developers assigned to that project as of July 31. The original game has reached 40 million copies sold, while the Phantom Liberty expansion has sold 15 million.
