Google Cloud Launches Universal Gemini AI Agent for Enterprises
Google Cloud introduced a universal Gemini AI agent for enterprise customers to automate work tasks across Google Workspace and third-party platforms.
Google Cloud introduced a universal Gemini AI agent for enterprise customers on Thursday, creating a single interface to handle work tasks across various applications and devices. The agent can write code, create content, and connect to business systems to deliver finished work via documents or email.
The tool operates within Google Workspace apps, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Calendar, and integrates with third-party platforms like Slack and Microsoft 365. To optimize performance, the agent utilizes a combination of Google's Gemini and Anthropic's Claude models, selecting the most appropriate AI for each specific task. Users can also deploy coworker agents that possess dedicated email identities and restricted access to information.
Currently available in private preview for enterprise customers, the agent already has specialized versions for legal work and financial services. Google expects to release versions for retail, healthcare, and government sectors soon. The launch follows recent moves by competitors, including OpenAI's release of always-on agents called dots in September and Meta's launch of a personal AI agent called Muse for travel and shopping.
