Wisconsin GOP Primaries Reject 2020 Election Conspiracy Candidates

Republican voters in Wisconsin defeated two primary candidates who promoted 2020 election conspiracies in legislative races on August 11.

Republican primary voters in Wisconsin rejected candidates aligned with 2020 election conspiracies in two legislative races on August 11, 2026. The results indicate a continuing divide between the establishment wing of the party and those supporting claims that the 2020 election was rigged.

In the 74th Assembly District, incumbent Representative Chanz Green defeated Scott Harbridge by approximately 26 percentage points. Harbridge, an Army veteran who advocated for hand-counted paper ballots and restrictions on mail-in voting, had received endorsements from U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and MyPillow founder Mike Lindell. The Republican Assembly Campaign Committee provided advertising and in-kind support for Green.

Similarly, in the 25th Senate District, former state Representative Erik Severson won 54% of the vote to defeat former state Representative Angie Sapik. Sapik had previously posted tweets, which were later deleted, claiming the 2020 election was rigged and expressing empowerment regarding the January 6 Capitol riot.
