Convertus Group Secures C$135 Million for Ontario Biofuel Plant

Convertus Group secured C$135 million ($96 million) in project financing for its flagship biofuel facility in York Region, Ontario. Power Sustainable Infrastructure Credit provided the funding, while Selkirk Advisory Group acted as the advisor during the financing process.

The plant will be Canada's first biofuel facility to integrate carbon dioxide liquefaction technology. It is designed to process up to 200,000 tonnes of source-separated organic waste annually. The resulting output will include 350,000 to 400,000 gigajoules of renewable natural gas, low-carbon liquid fertilizer, and food-grade liquefied carbon dioxide.

Construction remains on schedule, with commissioning expected later in 2026 and full commercial operations planned for early 2027. The project aims to provide long-term organics processing capacity for the Greater Toronto Area while advancing circular-economy and decarbonization goals.
