Apple to Launch iPad mini 8 and Smart Home Suite

Apple plans to introduce a next-generation iPad mini, potentially named the iPad mini 8, at a media event later this month. The tablet is expected to feature a significant price increase to a starting cost of $799, a $200 jump from the previous model driven by rising DRAM and storage costs. Hardware upgrades include the first OLED display for the mini line, a redesigned chassis with thinner bezels, the A20 Pro chip, a revamped speaker system, and a relocated landscape FaceTime camera. Shipping is expected between late October and November.

Separately, the company will host a Welcome home event on October 13 to introduce a new smart home strategy. This launch includes the HomeView smart display, slated for mid-November, and a refreshed HomePod mini featuring an S10 chip and new colors. Apple is also expected to announce a new Apple TV 4K powered by an A19 chip to support Siri AI. Reports indicate the Apple TV 4K may include built-in microphones for direct Siri commands, while the accompanying Siri Remote may feature a built-in speaker to help users locate the device. Both the Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini are expected to ship on October 30.
