Malwarebytes and Anthropic Launch AI Tools to Combat Phishing
Malwarebytes integrated Anthropic's Claude AI and launched new verification tools to counter sophisticated AI-driven phishing attacks causing millions in losses.
Cybercriminals are increasingly utilizing artificial intelligence to generate sophisticated phishing emails and fraudulent websites that impersonate government agencies, banks, and delivery companies. This trend has led to significant financial damage, with the Federal Bureau of Investigation reporting approximately $893 million in AI-related losses for Americans in 2025, part of a larger $20.9 billion in total internet crime losses.
To counter these threats, Malwarebytes integrated its threat intelligence with Anthropic's Claude AI chatbot, enabling users to investigate suspicious domains and messages. The cybersecurity company also released a standalone tool called Scam Link Check specifically for verifying website addresses. Simultaneously, the service Scamwise introduced a tool for analyzing texts and emails that includes a screenshot upload feature.
Despite the rollout of these defensive technologies, experts warn that AI detection tools are not infallible. They advise that these services should be used in conjunction with common sense and independent verification to ensure security.
