Jaguar Land Rover Recalls 23,677 Vehicles Over Power Loss Defect

Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 23,677 vehicles, primarily SUVs, after an electronic system error was found to cause a sudden loss of drive power and exterior lighting. The defect centers on a DC-DC converter, which charges the 12-volt battery from the high-voltage lithium-ion battery. This component may malfunction during vehicle start-up or periods of high power demand due to electrical overload or a software error.

Affected models include various Range Rover, Discovery, Defender, F-Pace, and E-Pace vehicles produced between 2019 and 2024. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has tracked 393 claims and field reports in the United States. Despite these reports, no accidents, injuries, or fires have been recorded to date.

To resolve the issue, dealerships will provide a free software update. This update introduces a limp-home mode designed to warn drivers if the converter goes offline. The company expects to mail interim notification letters to affected owners starting November 13.
