Little Chute Clerk Mails 530 Uninitialed Absentee Ballots

The village of Little Chute confirmed that 530 absentee ballots mailed without required official initials will be counted if returned on time. Nicole Ryerson, the village clerk, mailed the ballots without the signatures due to a processing oversight.

Following consultation with the Wisconsin Elections Commission, the village determined the ballots remain valid because the error was not caused by the voters. The commission advised the village against automatically sending replacement ballots to avoid confusion, as the original documents are still usable.

Impacted voters have several options to ensure their vote is recorded for the November 3 election. They may return the current uninitialed ballots by mail, request a new absentee ballot, vote absentee in person, or cast their vote on Election Day.
