Humanoid Robot Sales Reach 7,000 Units Amid Investment Surge

The International Federation of Robotics reported that global sales of humanoid robots reached 7,000 units last year. While this figure is a small fraction of the broader robotics market—which saw 542,000 industrial and 199,000 service robots installed in 2024—the humanoid sector is attracting billions of dollars in investment.

Much of the 2025 sales volume was driven by research institutions and companies using the robots to generate data for AI models. In the commercial sector, car manufacturers have begun implementing small-scale pilots within their plants. The International Federation of Robotics defines these machines as autonomous robots with a human-like appearance designed for human environments, noting that legs are not a requirement for this classification.

Financial forecasts suggest rapid growth for the industry. Bank of America Global Research estimates that humanoid shipments will surge to 90,000 units this year and reach 1.2 million by 2030.
