Apple Plans Five New iPhones and Foldable Model for 2027
Apple Inc. is expanding its smartphone lineup with five new models by 2027, including a foldable device and a major glass-focused redesign.
Apple Inc. plans to release at least five new iPhone models by early 2027, including a foldable device with production targets increased to 10 million units. The company has already secured components for approximately 80 million smartphones for the second half of 2026, with total annual production for that year expected to exceed 220 million units. To mitigate memory supply strains driven by AI demand, the company is exploring the use of Chinese chip suppliers.
Concurrent with this expansion, Apple is developing a major redesign for its 20th anniversary iPhone, slated for 2027 release following the iPhone 18 lineup. Drawing on the vision of former design chief Jony Ive, the company aims for a single slab of glass aesthetic. This design is expected to feature curved glass extending around all four sides to create a bezel-free appearance, a return to a glass rear panel, and under-display Face ID technology to hide sensors beneath the screen.
While production facilities are being prepared for the anniversary model, it remains unclear if the device will be marketed as the iPhone 19 Pro, iPhone 20 Pro, or under a different designation.
