Louisiana Launches Voter Registration Week Ahead of November Election

Secretary of State Nancy Landry and state registrars launched Voter Registration Week on September 21, 2026, to increase civic participation for the November 3 election. The initiative promotes several registration methods, including the GeauxVote app and an online portal for residents with a valid Louisiana driver's license or Special ID card. Other options include in-person registration at the Office of Motor Vehicles, public assistance agencies, Armed Forces recruitment offices, and local Registrar of Voters offices.

As part of the statewide outreach, registrars visited community centers and schools to educate residents on the electoral process. In Lincoln Parish, Registrar of Voters Sharon Parnell registered eligible students at Ruston High School. Principal Teri Howe welcomed the initiative, noting that it allows students to practice the civic lessons they have learned in the classroom.

Registration deadlines vary by method. Residents must register in person or by mail by Monday, October 5, while the deadline for online registration is Tuesday, October 13.
