Democratic Incumbents Lead Early Washington State Election Results

King County Elections reports Democratic incumbents leading most federal and state races, while Republicans hold slight leads in Legislative District 39.

Initial results from the November 3 general election show Democratic incumbents maintaining strong leads across several federal and state races in Washington. King County Elections reported that U.S. Representatives Suzan DelBene, Kim Schrier, and Adam Smith hold significant leads in Congressional Districts 1, 8, and 9, with DelBene and Smith both exceeding 75% of the early vote.

State legislative races in King County also favor Democrats. Incumbents Janice Zahn and My-Linh Thai lead their respective contests in Legislative District 41, while Osman Salahuddin, Zach Hall, Lisa Callan, and David Hackney lead their races. However, some internal Democratic contests are more competitive, with challenger Jessica Forsythe holding a slight lead over incumbent Amy Walen in Legislative District 48, and Kelabe Tewolde leading incumbent Sharon Tomiko Santos in Legislative District 37.

In contrast, Republicans hold narrow leads in both House of Representatives races for Legislative District 39, which covers parts of Snohomish and Skagit counties. Republican incumbent Sam Low leads Kathryn Lewandowsky 52.7% to 47.2% for Position 1, while Republican Steve Ewing leads Ida Keely 50.3% to 49.6% for the open Position 2 seat.

Voter turnout in King County was 37% as of 8:12 p.m. on election night. Both King and Snohomish counties are scheduled to certify their results on November 24, with final state certification following on December 3.
