Prakash Raj Claims Voter Rights Deleted in Bengaluru

Actor Prakash Raj claimed on August 11, 2026, that his name was deleted from the Bengaluru electoral rolls during a Special Intensive Revision exercise. In videos shared on social media, Raj described the deletion as a joke, noting that he was born and educated in the constituency and had previously run as a Member of Parliament candidate there. He suggested the move was an attempt by those in power to deny voting rights to citizens who might not elect them.

Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer V Anbukumar reported that 49.42 lakh of Bengaluru's 1.03 crore voters were flagged under the Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate, or Other category. While the Election Commission of India maintains that deletions target deceased or shifted voters, reports indicate Raj's name was listed as permanently shifted in the Shantinagar constituency.

In a separate legal matter, a city court recently granted Raj conditional bail regarding allegations that he illegally possessed four voter identity cards.
