Dangote Refinery Becomes Europe's Top Jet Fuel Supplier

Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals surpassed the United States to become Europe's largest imported jet fuel supplier for two consecutive months in June and July 2026.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals became Europe's largest supplier of imported jet fuel for the second consecutive month in July 2026, overtaking the United States. Data from Kpler shows the refinery delivered over 400,000 tonnes of jet fuel to Europe in July, accounting for approximately 20 percent of the continent's total imports of 2.06 million tonnes. This follows a record export of 466,000 tonnes in June.

The refinery's growth is driven by record production levels, with crude deliveries reaching 660,000 barrels per day and June jet fuel loadings at the Lekki export terminal hitting 550,000 tonnes. Its strategic Atlantic coast location and modern technology have allowed it to capitalize on market disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, which have pushed European buyers to diversify away from traditional Middle Eastern and U.S. suppliers.

MD/CEO David Bird stated that the company is expanding exports of diesel and gasoline to markets across Europe and Africa. He noted that these efforts are intended to strengthen Nigeria's position as a net exporter of high-value petroleum products.
