XRP Struggles as Remittance Potential Fails to Drive Price
XRP faces price volatility and regulatory headwinds as analysts argue the global remittance market cannot sustain high token valuations.
The cryptocurrency XRP continues to experience price volatility, trading around $1.38 as of late October 2026. Despite its role as a bridge currency in Ripple's international payments network, reports indicate that fewer than 10 of the more than 300 partnering financial institutions actually utilize the token.
Financial analysis suggests the $900 billion global remittance market is unlikely to push XRP above its current levels. Because payment firms hold the asset for minutes rather than months, high velocity means that capturing 25% of the market would support a price of less than one cent per token if held for a day. To reach its all-time high of $3.65, the asset would require sustained long-term demand.
Institutional support has also wavered. Spot XRP ETFs, launched in November 2025, have seen a slowdown in momentum, with total net assets falling to between $1.49 billion and $1.6 billion from a September peak of $1.77 billion. Further headwinds include the failure of the U.S. Senate to pass the Clarity Act, which would have classified cryptocurrencies like XRP as digital commodities under federal law.
