SEMI and IDTA Launch India Semiconductor Academy

The global industry association SEMI and the India Deep Tech Alliance (IDTA) have announced a collaboration to establish the India Semiconductor Academy (ISA). This national, industry-led platform is designed to transform India's engineering talent into a practical workforce capable of filling critical roles in semiconductor design, fabrication, advanced packaging, and testing.

The academy will partner with academic institutions and industry leaders, including Micron Technology, Cadence, Synopsys, and IIT Kanpur. During the current planning phase, SEMI and IDTA are defining the governance, funding framework, and curriculum, with a specific focus on creating employment-linked pathways and industry-validated occupational standards.

This initiative aligns with the broader Pax Silica effort, a partnership between India, the United States, and other nations aimed at enhancing the security and resilience of artificial intelligence and semiconductor supply chains. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology views the academy as a vital mechanism to align national education with specific industry requirements.
