European Electric Vehicle Registrations Surge 70% in September
Battery-electric vehicle registrations in Europe rose 70.3% in September, reaching 300,202 vehicles across 17 key markets.
Battery-electric vehicle (BEV) registrations in Europe increased 70.3% in September, with 300,202 vehicles registered across 17 key markets. This surge pushed the monthly market share for BEVs to 32.6%. Year-to-date registrations have reached 1.98 million, representing a 38.1% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
E-Mobility Europe and other data providers attribute the growth to a combination of high oil prices, government subsidies, and the availability of more affordable vehicle options. Norway continues to lead the region with an electrification rate of 98.8%, while Germany and France recorded the highest overall registration volumes. In contrast, Italy, Poland, and the Czech Republic remain the least electrified markets.
This growth in sales occurs alongside a political shift in regulatory approach. The governments of France and Germany have reached an agreement to soften proposed European Union car emissions regulations.
