Qatar and Egypt Sign Four Cooperation Agreements in El Alamein

Qatar and Egypt signed four bilateral agreements covering health, customs, and development while coordinating a peace roadmap for the Gaza Strip.

During the seventh session of the Qatar-Egypt Joint Higher Committee in El Alamein, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egyptian officials signed four cooperation agreements. These accords cover regulatory work, customs, development, and health, including a Qatari grant to establish the HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani Hospital in Sohag.

Economic discussions centered on the launch of the first phase of the Alam Al Roum development project and the proposal of a joint council for businessmen to expand trade in pharmaceuticals and industry. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized the intrinsic link between Gulf and Egyptian national security and supported efforts to find supply chain alternatives.

On regional security, officials reported that coordination between Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye led Palestinian factions to accept a peace plan. The two nations called on Israel to fulfill commitments regarding humanitarian access and withdrawal as part of a roadmap toward an independent Palestinian state on 1967 borders. Additionally, the countries coordinated on crises in Sudan and Libya and addressed the American-Iranian war, with Egypt condemning Iranian attacks on Qatar and the Gulf States. Both nations stressed the necessity of maintaining freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab El Mandeb Strait.
